Handover guide

Every AgentOpen meeting follows these steps. They take about five minutes and protect both sides.

Before you go

Checks for phones and tablets

  1. IMEI. The buyer dials *#06# on the device and texts KYM <15-digit IMEI> to 14422, or uses the Sanchar Saathi app. Walk away if the reply says blacklisted, duplicate or already in use, or if the IMEI on screen does not match the box or bill.
  2. Accounts. The seller signs out of Apple ID (Settings → your name → Sign Out) or removes the Google account (Settings → Accounts), then erases the device in front of the buyer. After the reset, the device must reach the setup screen without asking for the old account.
  3. Loans. If the phone was bought on EMI, the seller shows a loan-closure letter or a zero-balance statement. A lender can lock a financed phone later, even after it is sold.
  4. Condition. Test the screen, cameras, speakers, microphone, charging and SIM slot. A few minutes with a diagnostics app helps.

Laptops, cameras, consoles and other electronics

Check that it powers on and that the main functions work. Match the model and serial number to the bill if there is one. The seller signs out of iCloud and Find My, or the Microsoft or Google account, and resets the device in front of the buyer.

Furniture and home appliances

These may be picked up from the seller's building, once both people have confirmed the meeting. AgentOpen never passes on addresses; you arrange that between you after contact details are shared.

Books, cycles, kids' items and everything else

Meet in a public place and inspect before paying. Cycles: check the brakes, gears, tyres and the frame for cracks. Kids' items: check for missing parts and sharp edges; used car seats and cribs can't be listed.

Paying

Pay only after every check passes. Never share an OTP, UPI PIN or card details with the other person: nobody needs them to receive money.

After the meeting

Answer AgentOpen's WhatsApp message: Sold, Didn't happen, or Problem with item. Your answer keeps prices honest and protects the next buyer.

If something goes wrong

Walk away. For threats or danger, call 112. For fraud, call 1930 or report at cybercrime.gov.in. Then tell us through the outcome message or at grievance@agentopen.in.
